PROCESS

Who makes the final decision on the winner?
Selecting the winner will be a three stage process:

First, an analysis of each application by teams of trained reviewers who will evaluate the application based on predetermined subjective criteria. The review teams will narrow the list to 20 semifinalists.

Second, a review and evaluation by a panel of judges who will narrow the list to five finalists using the same predetermined criteria.

Third, a public vote by the people of Pittsburgh to determine the winner.

After each step in the process, applicants will be informed by email whether or not they will move on to the next step.

What are the judging criteria?
The selection process will be subjective and will be based on the originality, creativity, passion, and clarity demonstrated in the application. All decisions by the reviewers and judges are final.

Can I check on the status of my application during the process?
No status information will be available during the evaluation and selection process. However, each applicant who supplied a valid email address on their application will receive an email as to whether or not their application will be moving on to the semifinalist and finalist stages. No phone calls will be accepted.

How will the public vote be conducted?
The public vote by the people of Pittsburgh will be conducted through the Pop City regional weekly email publication. Summaries of the five finalists will appear in Pop City in April and voting will be conducted through response to that publication. The sponsors reserve the right to modify this process at any time.
